Each system's case managers tend to have working relationships with a familiar set of nearby facilities, which can make their initial suggestions feel narrower than the full range of verified options across the metro. It is reasonable to ask a case manager directly whether they considered facilities outside their usual referral list, particularly if a specific community closer to family or with a stronger fit came up in your own research. A referral being offered does not mean it is the only option, or even the best one for your specific situation.
